Number One

To celebrate our 1st Anniversary we stayed a night in San Francisco. We decided it’s one of the most beautiful and dirty/gross cities. We have both been to this city many times, but we ventured to some places that we haven’t been before and it was really fun.

We stayed at the Hilton in the financial district. When we got there, they told us we had an amazing city view… As we started heading up to our room, we were like, wait… City view is not what we want. So this was our view:

Buildings can be pretty. But the view from the other side was amazing. In the morning, we walked by a room that was being cleaned and we oohed and ahhed at their view. They could see Coit tower, the bay, the Golden Gate bridge. All the good stuff. Oh well. We had a view of China town.

We also had a view of the Goldman Sachs building, which is that super tall one in the middle. Nathan couldn’t stop staring and daydreaming. He would love to have a job there right now.

We walked a few blocks for dinner at Cafe Claude. My dish was amazing and I wanted seconds. Poor Nathan . . . his was disgusting and under cooked. Both of our desserts were delicious.

The next day we picked up some sandwiches from this Italian deli and headed over to Alamo Square. I was dying to see the famous Full House houses. It was very windy and cold, so we didn’t stay long. But I was happy to fulfill a dream.

Afterwards, we drove up to one of our favorite locations. We took our engagement pictures on this street 1 and a half years ago. We love the houses and decor along the street and the beautiful view of the bay.

We then drove over to the famous Lombard Street. Neither one of us have driven this before (that we can remember). It was like waiting in line for a ride. So many cars were waiting to drive down, and at the end, soooooo many people were crowding the streets, snapping pictures. It was a fun thing to do one time.

After the craziness of being in the city, we ended our day with a visit to the temple. It was a little frustrating because we came out of the temple all happy and feeling great, and we look over and there is this huge group of ghetto high schoolers taking pictures for prom. The girls were wearing their tiny outfits and the guys we jumping around, screaming, and swearing. Finally, Nathan walked over and told them this place is sacred and they need to keep their voices down. They only listened for a second. It just made me sick. We then headed up to the top to walk around, and there was a little Hispanic girl getting her photo shoot in this huge, white strapless dress, who was also running around with her little friend and screaming. I think it’s great that people can come and take pictures at the temple, walk around, go to the visitor’s center, etc… but people need to remember that they are on sacred ground they need to be respectful.

So anyway! We had a great anniversary. It was fun to be away and just do our own thing. I know this next year is going to be even better than the first! I love you, Nathan!!

Yay!! So happy for you guys. I can’t believe you have already been married a year! I love you both! 🙂 Congrats!

Yo yo yo! What up chica! That’s just the first thing that came to my mind. I guess I have my ghetto on from reading those last few sentences about scandalous teens at the temple. I’m glad you fulfilled a dream by checking out the Full House homes. They look just as I’d expected they would! Sounds like a fun, interesting time was had by all.

It’s funny because the calendar I use at work just happens to have those houses for the picture – minus you two, of course. 🙂 Congrats on your FIRST anniversary! It’s been a CRAZY year, but prob better than the one before. Love you both. <3 <3

As much as I love going to the Temple, it is getting tiring everytime we come out to an unaffiliated group taking quinceanera, prom, wedding (always obviously not LDS) pictures. I always laugh at the “no limo’s” sign at the parking lot entrance. Maybe they could get some security like at Temple Square!?
