Great to keep in mind during finals. I could recommend some lovely trails on which to interrupt your sedentary state. 🙂

it’s also not good to cross your legs since it’s hard enough to get blood back to your heart from your legs, then you go and block off your veins. that’s bad for circulation. also, people that go on long flights (or just sit for about 4 hours at a time) really need to stand up once in a while. blood can’t get back up to your heart and starts to pool, therefore it aggregates and clots. when it get’s dislodged, it goes to your heart then to your lungs, and that’s really bad (vessels in your lungs are very small, so clots get stuck there after going through the heart).
if you must sit for a long time, flex your leg muscles to help the blood move (that’s one of the mechanisms your body uses to move the blood – muscles).

Scary! I should start cleaning teeth standing up. And watch tv standing up. Good stuff to know. And thanks Jess for adding all that extra stuff. I always try not to cross my legs.

It also compresses your back and discs, hence why after back surgery I can’t sit for more than 20 minutes at a time. I’m Provo’s super walker now !
