Month Eight seemed to be the magical month. She has grown and changed so much. She is clapping, waving byebye (still not 100% when you tell her to), rolling over, saying dadadada, mamamama and other fun sounds, semi-mobile, she puts her hands up when you tell her to, and eating cheerios and other whole foods (not just pureed). She also had her first cold this past month. It was a sad few days. And now I think she might have seasonal allergies, just like daddy.
Isn’t this the cutest little sick face you’ve ever?!
Height:
Size 4 diapers
She is a BUSY, busy body. She is semi-mobile. This girl wishes so badly that could move all over. Mommy and Daddy do not!! She kind of scoots on her bum and then lunges forward to whatever she is trying to reach. It’s so funny to watch her slowly bounce forward on her bum. She leans forward and gets into crawling position, but then splats onto her tummy and gets frustrated. She can only move in a circle when she is on her tummy and sometimes moves backwards. But moving forward is still too complicated. She can roll from tummy to back and back to tummy like a pro now. She loves to stand. She always reaches for my hands and tries to stand up. I’m so happy she’s taken a while to be mobile, because even though she’s only slightly mobile, we’re already in trouble! Time to baby proof! We need to get all of our junk off the floors. Especially the little bitty crumbs, papers, tape, whatever. She finds the smallest nuggets. I need to start vacuuming daily. Luckily, she is a curious little girl, so when she finds something, it doesn’t go straight to the move, she closely looks it over, turning it all around in those tiny fingers, and THEN moves it goes to her mouth.
She is so curious! Her mind is never resting. She is constantly looking all around, grabbing, reaching, going. I love her wide eyes and no facial expression when she hears something or is looking for someone. She is so smart. She catches onto things so easily. Now she knows that when you have something she wants and you hide it, it’s not gone, it’s just hidden and she keeps trying to get to it. I love that I can take her places and she is so easy. She never throws a fit or gets fussy. Madeline just loves being in new places. Whenever we go somewhere, she has to soak it all in first before she starts to feel comfortable and start babbling. She just observes for quite some time. The only times she gets fussy is when she is tired and I’m getting her in her car seat or I’m getting her diaper changed/dressed. Madeline is just an overall happy and content baby.
Sometimes I wish she would just snuggle me. Occasionally, like once in a blue moon, she will rest her head on my shoulder for about, 2 seconds. But then she might miss some action if she has her head down! I soak in every second. Sometimes she can be shy. When she is meeting someone new and they are smiling and showing her love, she smiles back and puts her head into me while still looking at them. It’s so adorable. Once in a while she has stranger danger and just wants mommy. I love when she just wants me. There is nothing better than to be wanted by your baby.
This girls has the best hearty, belly laugh. I love how deep and throaty it sounds. I love her smile. It is just the best. She is not really ticklish, only slightly around her lower belly. She loves the bath! She gets so excited when she starts to hear the water running and as soon as I get her undressed and carry her over to the bath, her legs get kicking like crazy! As we all know, she is a champ eater! Luckily no problems there.
She’s starting to get a little bit better about sleeping. Definitely still a work in progress. BUT she is totally napping all on her own. Occasionally, she’ll wake up after half an hour and I’ll pick her up and she’ll fall back asleep for another hour. Sometimes I just hold her for the rest of her nap. She is still waking up every 1-2-3 hours. RARELY she will have a 4-6 hour stretch. She is up for the day around 6 am (more or less). And she goes down for her 1st nap around 7:30/8 and will sometimes sleep an hour and a half. Her 2nd nap will usually be about 40 min and her 3rd nap will be about 45 min or not at all. So her naps range from 30-1.5 hours. You just never know what you’re going to get! I figure sometime she’ll be down to 2 naps. I can’t wait for that! It’s so hard to run errands or hang out with people when you only have a 2 hour window. Depending on her last nap, she’ll go down for the night around 6 or 7.
Other than her night sleeping, this girl is practically perfect. It’s so fun watching her turn into a real little kid. She is so much fun and I am so in love with this sweet little rascal. My heart just wants to burst everyday.

Oh my goodness, her rolls are to die for!!!
She’s now more fun than a barrel of monkeys and about as busy as one! Your mom will be surprised how much she has changed in a month when you visit Utah.
