Madeline’s Blessing Day

DSC01527

This was such a wonderful day. Nothing makes me happier than being together with family. Nathan did an exceptional job. I did pretty good until he mentioned her finding an eternal companion and then when he sat down with her I just lost it. Such a special moment. I love our little and big families.

It was a wonderful day, but also a little bit of a hectic day. Our ward starts at 12:30, so we figured we had lots of time in the morning to get things together. The McCulloch’s had driven in the night before and were staying at Rachel’s place in San Ramon. I started to get ready pretty early that morning and get some food prepared for the luncheon. Then the McCullochs came over to meet their cousin/niece for the first time. It was so nice to see them and hang out, but it made it a little more tricky to get things together in the morning. Especially cause our place is so tiny. Nathan wanted to leave early for church to get things together for tithing settlement, but that didn’t happen. And then I was trying to time Madeline’s nap time to be right before we left and feed her right before, which also meant putting her in her dress and mine last minute. We rushed out the door and I forgot the food I prepared and the milk I had pumped so I could wear a dress. Ughhh.

Madeline was just perfect before and during the blessing. Thank goodness. But I knew she was tired so I took her out to get her to sleep. I tried all through sacrament meeting and she was so close. But then it was over and we wanted to take some pictures. But everyone also wanted to chat with us, naturally. Madeline was REALLY tired at this point. And I REALLY wanted some pictures, and my patience was REALLY running low. So we snapped a quick photo with Nathan’s grandparents and the whole bunch. Madeline at this point is very unhappy, tired, and hungry, the dress zipper is sharp and scratching her neck and she was slippery in that huge dress, and I am almost in tears. So then I grabbed Joy and took her with me to the mother’s room and she unzipped me so I could feed Madeline. She ate and finally fell asleep and Joy helped me get dressed. WHEW. THEN Nathan and I had to drive all the way back to our place to get the food and head over to his Mom’s (30 min ordeal). By the time the food was ready, people could have stayed all 3 hours at church and made it over to the house with time to spare. Everyone was so patient and kind and thankfully enjoyed socializing. Donna, Rachel, Megan, and Laura put together an AMAZING spread and were the best hostesses. A little crazy of a day, but oh so wonderful.DSC01541

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get a picture with just the three of us. So we took one later on in the day where we are all wearing different shades of pink/red. Cute.DSC01549

It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed all the food and family. Sorry, we didn’t know your morning was so crazy or we wouldn’t have come over! We didn’t ruin your morning; we made it more exciting for you. 🙂 Glad we could make it in time for the big day!
