At night, I lay Madeline down so she’s laying straight in her bed, but when she wakes up, she’s like this! I’ve never witnessed her getting into this position, but I’m pretty sure it’s from her trying to wrestle out of her straight jacket. She moves her head like crazy back and forth and tries so hard to get those hands to her face. And I think she just spins as she fusses.

I caught her sucking on her two fingers! Ahh! This is exactly what I did and it terrifies me that she’s going to be a finger sucker. She loves to suck on her hand, fist, fingers. Yuck.
Madeline has discovered her hands! Yesterday morning, I noticed her going cross eyed looking at her hands. And now she is always looking at her hands and fingers. I always catch her checking them out. I love it!! I think it is just the cutest thing ever. She seems so fascinated by those fingers. I just love the way she will clasp them together or move her fingers around as she stares at them. So fun.

Oooh! Fingers! That is too cute. That is one of the best little milestones (along with the one around 5 months when they are lying on the floor and they grab and hold on to their toes)!! I love her little straight jacket. I think you should try swaddling her with her arms bent up close to her face, like her fists right below her chin, so she can suck on her fingers for comfort if she wants to settle herself back down in the night. Give in to the finger sucking!! I know you think it’s so gross, but you used to suck your fingers and you turned out alright!! 🙂
I was going to comment on the bent arms in the swaddle, too, except you probably don’t want her hands out too much to scratch herself. I can’t wait to meet her!
