TWO months

Have we really had this little one with us for two months already? I feel like she has always been with us and it’s hard to remember life BM (before Madeline), but at the same time I feel like it has gone by super fast! Time is a crazy thing.

This little one is such a sweet baby. We feel so blessed and spoiled with this girl. (it makes us terrified what our next one will be like!)

She is a very patient girl. She isn’t too fussy, and when she is, she is either hungry, bored, or gassy. It’s usually an easy fix to the fuss. Occasionally at night, it’s a bit more difficult to calm down the fussiness, but even then, it’s not so bad. She is a decent sleeper. We are still not getting any super long stretches, but a handful of times we have had 5 hours straight. She usually does one long initial stretch (about 4 hours), then the rest of the night it will be every 2-3 hours. Some nights are better than others. But I am just very grateful that she knows when it is nighttime. After I change and feed her, she falls right back to sleep. Sometimes I have a hard time transitioning her from my arms to her bassinet. She will be in a deep sleep, and I slowly move her away form my arms, and her eyes open wide. Come on, girl! I’ll lay her down anyway, but then she starts moving her head back and forth like crazy and trying to free her arms from her swaddle, while making grunting noises. She does that a lot.

She has no problems eating, thank goodness! She’s been a pro nurser since day one. I am so thankful for that.

Her eyes are looking more and more blue. Her hair is getting a little bit lighter. It’s still hard to tell what it will end up being. She has lost a ton of hair! It makes me so sad. But while she is losing it, the hair she still has is getting longer.

She loves when I sing to her. She just stares at me and smiles. Makes me melt. She’s a good smiler, but she doesn’t hand it out like candy. You kind of have to work for it. Certain times of the day you’re more likely to get them. I just adore that gummy smile. She coughs a lot and makes a lot of fun noises. Sometimes it really sounds like she is trying to tell me something, like sound out a word. It is so adorable. I love to just hover over and talk and talk and smile and laugh and watch how she responds.

She sucks on her hand all the time. Usually her left. I hate it! I would much rather she be addicted to a pacifier than her hand/fingers. It’s more sanitary and I can take it away whenever I want. But she doesn’t really like the pacifier. She makes a disgusted face when I try to give it to her.

Madeline really enjoys being free. She still loves to be held (thank goodness!) but she also loves to be on her own. Her arms and legs just go flying, it’s so cute.

When she is really hungry, she starts snorting. I’ll be getting her all set up to nurse and she is just snorting away, it’s hilarious.

She had her 2 month check up today. Here are her stats:

Weight- 13 lbs 8 oz (89%ile)

Height- 24 1/4 in (100%ile)

Head circumference- 15.75 in (91%ile)

She is growing so fast! She was a champ with the shots. She had one orally and was fine, then three in the thighs. The nurse did it super fast so that was nice. I was just staring at Madeline and talking and smiling and she was so happy and content. Then when the nurse gave the first shot, Madeline’s face went from happy, to confused, to sad, to mad cries all in a  matter of seconds. It was so sad. She screamed, but then it was over and I could comfort her. She only cried for a few minutes but then calmed down and fell asleep in my arms. I was also very brave. I kept having to tell myself to be strong for her. Glad the first round is over with.

We just love our sweet, beautiful daughter and can’t imagine life without her.
