Months 15 and 16

I love my baby girl so much. She’s the best thing ever. Aside from her daddy of course. She is just hilarious and she knows when she is being funny and likes to ham it up even more. She’s not quite talking yet. She communicates with whining, stomping feet, pointing, and some sign language (more, all done, taps on my chest to nurse). She makes a lot of sounds, like when her pacifier is in her mouth and she makes a back of throat sound, and says a few words. Kind of words. She says dada and kiiiinnd of mama. She can say sock, rock, truck and they all sound like guck. She will say Gug for Grey. Sort of says cheese. She loves to let out a deafening scream when she doesn’t get what she wants and will scrunch her nose with her mouth wide open so we have a full view of those big two teeth on top that are so far apart. It’s such a funny face. If you give her something she wants she will let out a “ohhhhhhh”.

One of her favorite things right now is watching for birds and airplanes. She has the best hearing. Any far off airplane sound, she will freeze and look around with her mouth in a “ooh” shape. When we are outside she gets so excited to see the birds. She loves pointing at them and searching for them and of course listening for them. She takes after her Grandma Jean and Great Grandma B. Soon Madeline will hear a bird and say, “Oh that’s the Swallow.”

She now has 4 lower anteriors and 2 mand molars coming in and 2 giant front teeth. The laterals are just barely starting to come through and I can feel a max molar starting to break. Poor girl has been having a rough time with these molars. This past week she had a fever for 2 days, but then no temp but was extra fussy and clingy. There just wasn’t anything I could do to make her happy. I thought she might have an ear infection, but the Dr said her ears looked fine and it was most likely from teething. Yikes. No fun!

Madeline is still a good sleeper. The nights are great, but I wish she would sleep in longer. She sleeps from about 7 or 8 until 4 or 5 and then I will nurse her and then she goes back down for an hour or two. Rarely she will sleep in until 7. It’s usually about 6:30-45. I wish she would sleep an extra hour! She is taking two naps and puts herself to sleep for both. It’s so wonderful not having to rock her to sleep anymore. That was just not good. But I do miss the snuggling. At night and naps, she always has to have two pacifiers and Grey and baby Pink with her. I love looking at her on the camera and seeing her snuggling Pink.

One of my favorite things is when you ask Madeline a question, like, “Where’s Dada?” And she shrugs so big that her neck disappears. It’s the cutest shoulder shrug. I also love when she coughs and she pats on her chest. It’s hilarious. If she hears someone else cough, she’ll start coughing too and patting her chest. Such a little person. She loves to point out her belly button and other body parts (mostly on the face).

Madeline loves food. Luckily she’s not too picky of an eater so far. The only thing she doesn’t like is chunks in her smooth baby food. She still eats a lot of pureed baby food, which is great for me because she eats her vegetables no problem. But if that puree has chunks of carrot or pasta, no way jose. She also hates mashed potatoes. But loves sweet potatoes. She will eats those in little chunks. She also loves scrambled eggs, crackers, and cheese crackers. I’ll occasionally make her a green smoothie and she downs that. She also loves her water. Any time Daddy and I are eating a Quest bar she always has to have some too.

You can always make her happy by showing her a video of herself. One thing she hates is the vacuum. She is terrified of that thing. I think it’s mostly because of two incidences: 1) I was vacuuming and went over a seam and it sucked up a strand and got caught and it was loud and I screamed and 2) I accidentally went over a necklace and that was REALLY loud and I screamed and she has never liked the vacuum since. She loves to read books. Her favorite book is The Going To Bed Book by Sandra Boynton. She loves pointing out the moon. Any time there is an animal in the books she has to snuggle it and give it a hug. Especially dogs, cats, and birds. It’s hilarious. She loves animals. But only in books and from a distance. The other day we had to stop at church to set up some stuff and I was getting her out of the car as a random truck pulled up and 3 dogs jumped out (people love using our parking lot for a lot of things…) and she was dyyyyying to go over there. She had her arms outstrecthed and would bring them in a wrap around her body and sway. She will do that, but then if the dogs ever get close she freaks out. It’s so funny.

She loves being thrown in the air by Daddy and gets so excited when he comes home form work. That’s always the best part of our day. She loves the bath, but gets mad when I turn off the water. She doesn’t really have any bath toys. I can’t get over the thought of toys sitting in yucky bath water and then just letting them sit there until the next bath. It’s a mental battle I deal with on a daily basis with having a child. Germs. Mold. Growth. Aghh.

She loves spending time with Grandma Donna, Megan, and Grandma Jean on the days that I work (and sometimes Rachel!). We are extremely fortunate for the amazing help we get while we work. And I am forever grateful for the bond she gets to build with them each week. She also loves to play with Grandma Donna, Megan, and Rachel at church. I’m still very grateful for them and all their help at church! Madeline is very loved by family and so many friends. We are so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people.

This is one of Madeline’s favorite games. On. Off. On. Off. On. Off. Thank you to the little Asians that own this place.

DSC04077Stuff like this happens on a regular. Not this extreme, but there is always food spilled all over this carpet. It will be nice when we actually have a kitchen and I can sweep and mop and not try to get stains out of carpet! This particular day she was doing pretty good holding the bag of O’s and snacking out of it, so I just let her wander with it. I turn around for two seconds and they weren’t in the bag anymore! That day she also demanded to put those shoes on her. She threw a fit until I put them on her.
