Nathan pointed this out to me a few days ago, and I felt it was important to share. Don’t let your kids play with SunChips bags. They might go deaf.
There’s one kinda big problem with SunChips’ new 100% compostable bag: It’s noisy as heck. An Air Force pilot says it’s louder than the cockpit of his jet, and this video test pegs it at a potentially damaging 95 decibels.
Yes, this bag of chips crinkles up to 95 decibels, about five dB higher than the level when you need to start worrying about sustained hearing loss. By way of comparison, a bag of Tostitos Scoops only measured 77 dB.

just when it crinkles or when you pop it? i would recommend opening it and then dumping the contents out onto a napkin or something. i’d rather have a clean environment than eat chips, actually.
