Seeing as how it has been one month since Rachel and I ventured out on our little 2nd anniversary getaway, I figure it’s high time I get some photos up on the ol’ blog for everyone’s viewing pleasure. My cute little wife suggested that we stay close to home for our annual anniversary adventure and quaint Monterey, California was the destination of choice. Our weekend trip began with a grinding traffic jam through Santa Cruz, but the rest of the trip was a delight. I apologize in advance for so many landscape pictures. It’s tough to get pictures of ourselves when we travel alone!
Rachel striking her model pose at the Monterey Bay.
We nixed the idea of going on a whale watching tour because we (or just I) forgot heavy coats. These were the only whales we saw.
Flowers.
It was a gorgeous day and the water was incredibly clear. Can you spot the otters?
If you can’t, don’t worry. We couldn’t find any either.
More beautiful landscape.
Ditto.
We bartered services with another couple who looked desperate for a family photo! This is looking out over the bay from a walking trail that follows the perimeter.
Should have brought our swimsuits!
A tree.
I doubt this picture is doing justice to this squirrel. I have never in my life seen such an overweight rodent. This thing would have let me pet it on the head if I had tried. The only thing that existed in its universe was food. It was consuming every living thing in its path, including the Mother’s Day flowers someone left below a note to their deceased parent.
We made a day trip down to Carmel to grab my mom some of her favorite fudge. Luckily there was another couple willing to barter shots with us. Pebble Beach is just a few hundred yards north from us in this shot. Unfortunately Rachel’s clubs are still in Utah.
We got our toes wet, but the water was a little too icy to stay in it for long.
After our excursion to Carmel we took the scenic drive up Highway 1 to Half Moon Bay. We had dinner at (you guessed it) Miramar Beach Restaurant. The food there is absolutely amazing and the view of the ocean is even better.
Filet mignon.
Chicken and pasta.
The sun setting on our fun little adventure.
All-in-all it was a great trip.
Our first couple of years together have flown by and have been nothing short of fantastic. Two years ago if you had asked me what it meant to be in love I easily would have rattled off my feelings for Rachel and stated with conviction that I had reached the pinnacle of that emotional state. Every day now my admiration and affection for my sweet wife continue to grow. The concept of my love for her has far surpassed my previous comprehension. I’m excited to see what the next year will bring us.

Nice entry, Nathan. Beautiful pics. You two are a very cute couple. Not sure what this next year will bring, but probably will be lots of fun – enjoy. And maybe Pace can bring Rachel’s clubs when he comes.
Looks like a really fun trip! Monterey is a beautiful place! The pictures are great! I liked the otters too. I looked for a good 10-15 seconds before reading the next line. haha
